flyerdreamer Posted February 2, 2010 #1 Share Posted February 2, 2010 Not for me, a SCUBA newbie, but for a PADI certified experienced diver which of the dives off the PG is your favorite, shouldn't-miss one, day or night? Thank you.
spookyzen Posted February 15, 2010 #2 Share Posted February 15, 2010 Shark Gallery in Moorea is cool. Although, my favorite is Tonga (but you only do that on the Fiji cruise).
sita3 Posted February 19, 2010 #3 Share Posted February 19, 2010 Depends on which itinerary you're taking. If standard 7-day, recommend outer reef at BoraBora and Ledges in Moorea. You'll have plenty of sharks at both. Outer reef in BB will have larger lemon sharks in addition to the black tips/reef sharks. There's a resident Napoleon wrasse, turtles, etc. Ledges offers all of the sharks as the "gallery" dive but with beautiful plate coral. We have taken every dive offered on the PG including night dive BoraBora, Huahine, Raitai, Rangi, etc. Outer reef in Rangiaroa was fantastic (pass was flowing in the wrong direction the days we were there). If you have any specific questions, please feel free. Nothing beats diving in FP with Dom and his crew

CountessP Posted February 27, 2010 #5 Share Posted February 27, 2010 Best diving for us was Rangiroa. We ended up there for 3 days due to the cyclone, 5 dives total, and did the Taputi Pass/Reef, as well as Aquarium Reef, which is a shallow dive to which they take snorkelers as well. Still, it's full of fish, nice coral, and well worth diving, even for advanced divers. We saw awesome stuff on all these dives, so if PG offers them, give it a try. Bora Bora night dive was good too. Not a great reef, but interesting night critters. PG has a very helpful marine/dive crew. They did their best to accomodate all our needs. I would also suggest, if you do a post or pre-cruise package in Tahiti, that you try diving there as well. We saw more shark there than anywhere, and they have a terrific airplane wreck dive.
