From my research, the beaches that stood out for me are:

Reduit Beach in Rodney Bay

Choc Bay

Anse Chastanet

Anse Cochon

Can someone please provide first-hand knowledge that has recently been to any beaches???

Depends on what your looking for, here’s what I have from what others had to say about these beaches…

Choc Bay: The closest beach to where the boat docks in Castries. Quite a number of cruise passengers visit this beach since there is a restaurant and you they have water sport activities as well. It also is a pretty nice beach. Taxi (from Castries to Choc approx $10-15US) or the local bus cost about 1.00EC approx $0.37cents US and its right along the route.

Reduit Beach/Rodney Bay: About 20 minutes from the ship’s port heading north is Reduit Beach which is arguably the nicest beach in St. Lucia. Has a long strip of local restaurants and a great beach where you can rent lounge chairs. Has water sports…St. Lucian Watersports @ the Rex St. Lucian Hotel. More restaurants than Choc Bay as it is in the heart of the tourist area. Tell the taxi to drop you off at Spinakers Restaurant..it's right next to the beach. From the beach about a 5 or 10 minute walk is the Lime restaurant which serves great local food for about USD6.00 a meal. Taxi fare is USD20 from Castries to Reduit. 2 Chairs & Umbrella Rental: $15….get there early for chair rental.

Restaurants @ Rodney Bay: Open during the day: La Piazza just north of Reduit Beach (next to Capone’s dinner restaurant) has burgers, well-stuffed sandwiches & pizzas from 12pm to 12am – Tues – Sunday.

The Lime also north of Reduit Beach located in an area known as ‘restaurant row’, open air setting w/ lime green curtains; roti is a Caribbean burrito & sandwiches for lunch; Weds-Mon 8am-1am.

The Mortar & Pestle: waterfront restaurant located @ the Harmony Suites in Rodney Bay Lagoon; Caribbean/ International cuisine: bajan flying fish; stuffed crab backs; conch chowder. Daily 7am-11pm. Shamrocks in Rodney Bay is an Irish-style pub open from 10:30 a.m. Rodney Bay has two pubs/restaurants which serve local food , cheap beer and have good evening entertainment. "the Triangle" and "the Lime".

Anse Cochon beach: Is a ways down the coast, I think you can only get to it by boat, great for snorkeling.

Anse Chastanet beach: Located in Soufriere. This drive will take about 1 hour minimum and will cost in the region of 60-80USD each way. Good for snorkeling. Black sand beach.

Snorkeling: Club St. Lucia offers snorkeling as well as the Windjammer Landing. Both hotels are in the North where the cruise ship docks. Club is about a 1/2 hour drive and Windjammer perhaps about 20-25 minutes. These options should be lighter on your pocket.

Anse Cochon is reachable by car and is closer to the pier than Anse Chastenet. Anse Cochon is about 30 minutes and Chastenet is about an hour away. You can also reserve water taxi to Anse Cochon through Ti Kaye Resort. Actually Island Divers handles the reservations. You can take the water taxi, use the resort pool and have lunch for $60. It is not an all inclusive...but they do have a bar at the beach. Check out http://www.tikaye.com and http://www.nbhtravel.com/StLucia/StLucia.htm

They have great pictures of St. Lucia including snorkeling at Anse Chastenet and Anse Cochon.

Hope that helps-

Brooke
