Cost of Red Sea shore excursions on Celebrity

Recommended Posts

Hi, can anyone help please ?. My Wife and I are booked on the Red Sea Magic Cruise on 09/12/10. Does anyone know what the costs of the ships excursions are likely to be ? any other information will be gratefully recieved. Kind Regards, Goldfi8h.....

Hi,

For example the average cost to see pyramids and Sphinx etc. is £80.

I can't find latest prices, they are not on the website.

We were on a Royal Caribbean cruise last June and they wanted £120 for an excursion to Cairo (Pyramids and Sphinx and Cairo Museum). Compared at the time to Thomson's £75 for exactly the same excursion.

I agree with Berwyn that Thomson excursions are probably the cheapest around!!!

They are approximately £80 for the full day excursions and half that for the half day excursions....this would include lunch on a full day...in fact on the Cairo trips you get lunch and a snack box...

This itinerary is all about the amazing historical sites at Petra in Jordan, Cairo and Luxor in Egypt...the ports are merely the gateways to these sites...the trips to these sites are long days ...but there are also shorter trips available. We have done this itinerary twice and loved it !!:)

We went on the Red Sea Magic cruise last year, one of the problems we found is the ship uses commercial ports and you are not allowed to get off the ship unless you are on an organised tour.

Sample prices November 2009

Petra – The Red Rose City; Approx 10 hrs; £82 each

Classic Egypt – Pyramids & the Cairo Museum; Approx 11 hrs; £75 each

Luxor overnight with sound and light show; Overnight stay; £135 each

Luxor – Karnak & Valley of the Kings; Approx 15hrs; £82 each

I would not expect large differences in the cost for an excursion this year.

Petra is possible independently - you need to arrange this with the taxi drivers in Aqaba onyour first day - a saving if 4 of you go - no saving at all for 2 - infact more for 2 by taxi - a small saving for 3 - Luxor is impossible independently - Cairo is only possible if you have pre arranged this before you go with a tour guide fromthe internet.
