Alexandria to Pyramids and back. How much $$?

Those of you who have cruised to Alexandria and visited Pyramids within one day, please help. I am not really interested in any place other than seeing the pyramids with my own two eyes. If the tour stops at couple other places, that's fine but pyramids are my objective. I want safety, value and most importantly, punctuality to get back to the ship on time.

Please give me advice on:

1. Who was your excursion tour operator? Do they have a website?

2. How much did it cost?

3. How long did it take?

4. Did you get back to Alexandria on time?

5. Any tour operator I should avoid?

Thank you.

Memphis Tours in Cairo

2. How much did it cost?

Check their website...

3. How long did it take?

3 hours to Cairo

3 hours lunch + Pyramids

3 hours back to Alexandria

4. Did you get back to Alexandria on time?

We did.

5. Any tour operator I should avoid?

After I was afraid because of the 100 EUR deposit I was surprised how good it worked.

We used Best Way Travel - Egypt. The answered every emailed question within 24 hours.

We went to the Archaeological Museum and then the pyramids. Had a wonderful guide, Amir, who had just finished Egyptology studies and really knew his way around the museum.

There were seven of us from our roll call and the fee was $90 USD payable in cash at the end of the tour. No deposit required.

We got back to the ship with time to spare.

Because I have a Canadian email address Amir even brought a Celine Dion CD to play on the trip back. It was cute.

We used Memphis Tours as did HeinBloed who gave you the website above. 90 Euros each plus recommebded 10Euro tip included transfers Pyramids, Sphinx, lunch on the Nile, Papyrus studio, El Khan Khahili Market, Museum of Antiquity and Coptic tour. We booked just 2 of us but van was 6 with 4 others from our ship. We knew there would be others. We were very pleased but we all had to insist with our guide to leave Cairo earlier than he planned to. He would have been willing to cut it a lot closer than the rest of us.

Memphis Tours has a great website with Live Chat feature where you can do instant texting real time during their business hours. We worked with Mawra Samir and she was great. She would come on line and answer all my silly questions. :) :D :) :D

We thought that it would be best to take the cruiseline's tour to Cairo simply for the reason of making sure that the ship didn't leave without us! I am assuming that those of you who took a private tour to Cairo had no problems. Would you recommend the private tour over the cruiseline's tour? The price certainly seems to be better.

Deets, not only was it cheaper but we saw a lot more than the cattle call tour. Mind you, you need to have a bit of a sense of adventure because of the risk involved in regards to returning to the ship. If you have any disability or are completely risk averse stick to the ship tour. For us there was good risk/reward. Just make sure you leave Cairo 4 1/2 - 5 hours before your All Aboard. This way you shouldn't have to worry and you can still do some shopping at pier craft mall before boarding. We got back in time for our late dining time.:) :D :) :D

I agree. We took a private tour in June with DeCastro Tours. It is far superior to a ship's tour. DeCastro was more worried about getting us back to the ship on time than we were. We wanted to shop longer at the market and they got very nervous about the time. They made sure we were back in plenty of time. It would reflect very badly on a private tour operator if they didn't get their guests back in time.

hi

1. Who was your excursion tour operator? Do they have a website?

i handle a group of 65 person with Decastro tours.

the website they sent to me is http://www.decastrotours.com

2. How much did it cost?

i do not know how much they may cost you for two or one person ,but i can tell that they always send the best prices and they are highly recommended on this board .i read once that they charged 2 persons full day trip to Cairo almost 70$USD for each person

3. How long did it take?

actually the driving from Alexandria to cairo will take 3hours

and the day tour will take almost 5hours to visit the pyramids site ,and the Musuem .

4. Did you get back to Alexandria on time?

they will escort you to Alexandria on time , i noticed on this board that they care 100% to arrive to Alexandria early

5. Any tour operator I should avoid?

i do not know .
