Suffering from PCD!!

Recommended Posts

Just back sundy from the Mariner. Need to start planning next cruise I guess.
It was a wonderful trip! We did our own thing at the ports no planned excursions since we were in the same ports 2 yrs ago and did all the main things then.
The ship was beautiful the staff very attentative and friendly. Best waiter & asst. we have ever had (Allan & Gabreila) the Wig & Gavel was hubby's hang out and Archie, Priscilla & George took good care of him.
Food was good never had anything bad.
only complaint was that RCI needs to enforce it's rules on underage drinking & curfew. We had 10 to 14 yr olds drinking and running the ship at 2 & 3 am! the older teens were well behaved and stayed in the hot tubs (sometimes past 2 but they didn't bother anyone)the younger ones would play on and ride the elevators all day causing problems.
We met alot of great people on this cruise.
I did notice more movement on the Mariner than I did on Voyager but the only time it was really strong was when we went through some bad weather friday night. Got rained out in cozumel no beach day but we just went shopping and to Carlos N Charlies. made the best of it.
Overall it was a great trip and now I am sooo depressed!

You do know the best cure for PCD don't you? Book another cruise!

Sounds like you had a great time. Ahhh, summer cruising with kids.....RCI really does need to "police" the kids better, running at 2-3 am....parents were sound asleep - didn't care -didn't know ???? Those little darlings are precious aren't they....

Glad you had a good time, now go and book another cruise! Thanks for posting.

Deb, we were on the same cruise with you. We too are suffering from PCD. I asked when the dessert menu was coming last night. Funny though - we didn't see any of the problems with teens or kids that you mentioned. My own kids saw some that they thought were underage drinking, but didn't know their ages for sure. Our hallways were quiet, and we almost always took the steps, so the elevator problem went unnoticed by us. It was indeed a wonderful week - even the rough night was not a problem for my crew. Some others in our group were very bothered by it though. But I am with you on the PCD - I wanted to book another while on board but alas we didn't have the money for it. I'll have to start working on a Christmas ski trip then another cruise. Dreaming now!

LLM
We have a picture taken on the pool deck right after we got on that shows 11:45. They didn't have cabins ready until 1 but you could go in the public areas.
m&m
We spoke to a 14yr one day in the hot tub & she admitted to drinking and being out late.
They did not ruin our trip the elevators were annoying and we also used the steps alot. But I would rather be in Labadee than here at work!!

Ah, good ole Post Cruise Depression. Setting in slowly but surely for me. Mariner was a blast (5/30), I'll be posting a review soon.

It's so nice not worrying about laundry, or cooking, or even what day of the week it is...for a whole week! When "real life" kicks back in, it can get pretty rough! (Hey...where's my appetizer and 10-piece silverware setting, and where's the mystery plate that disappears as soon as you sit at the table?)

Since my past 2 cruises have been 7-day, my next will have to be a 9 or 11 night or something!!!

I'm sorry that you all have PCD, but you're sooooo making me look forward even more to our first cruise in August, also on Mariner! Any words of advice, like places/events on the ship not to miss? Desserts not to miss?

Welcome back, glad you all had such a wonderful time!

Time 'til Mariner on 8/29/04 -- our first cruise!

Places on the ship not to miss - well, one of my favorite spots is at the very front of the bow. You get there by taking the outside stairs on deck 4. I also just like hanging out on the sides on deck 4. Also, the art work in the forward steps, starboard side is probably my favorite. I also liked the port side, forward steps. Each night the cover of the menu in the main dining room features a piece of art from the ship. It's fun to search it out after having seen it on the cover of the menu. We enjoyed spending a little time in the skylight chapel and missed seeing a movie in the screening room (although we did go see the room itself) because we didn't realize until our last sea day that they only show movies on port days. We would have loved to have had that experience. There is great entertainment all over the ship - just pick your favorite kind of music and search out the venue that has it. Don't be timid about just wandering and peeking. We found bartenders practicing their craft in the conference rooms one afternoon - entertainment in itself! Oh and midnight treats from Cafe Promenade are wonderful! Enjoy!

PCD is only solved by booking TWO cruises. The 1st is when you're on the cruise, and the next is when you get home. (Works for me.

Thanks for the info m&m1. I honestly didn't reallize that they ran movies on the ship. This ship has everything! I can't wait to see what little discoveries we find!

Another problem, no one seems to remember to pick up my used towels in the bathroom and dh can't seem to remember how to make the towel animlals! Only choices for dinner last night were whatever I felt like cooking (I didn't after 1st day back to work)or where do you want to go and pay for the food!
We discussed next cruise at dinner & dh said book whatever you want!! Isn't he great? he's also got PCD.

It's always such a let down coming home from a cruise, especially if you've had a great time as we just did on the mariner!! We had a party of 12 ages 9-50ish,EVERYONE had a blast!! For the must see/do on the ship if you enjoy wine, please visit Vintages!! We spent much of our time there last week with Reyna,Nadia,&Naveen! They were wonderful and we miss them and their friendliness terribly!! They treated our family so well. Please stop by and tell them Anthony & Lisa say HELLO!! Umit And Victor were our waiters on table 364 and they were tremendous as well!! Ask Umit what the password is!! Tell him George says hello!!What fun ,,we hope to be on this ship again within the year!!Have a blast for us!! Oh, Labadee is awesome!! Jamaica we visited Margaritaville, some went on the slide at the store there, there is a beach and this all includes a price of just one Margarita-and it's only afew blocks from the dock!!

Have the pictures back and will start scrapbooking them this weekend maybe that will help some with the PCD.
