spidybabe Posted December 3, 2017 #1 Share Posted December 3, 2017 We do not like to use cruise line tours, and book independently. Are we better off pre booking with a local tour company, or can we just hire a tour when we get off the ship? Which is a better option? Thanks for any info Happy holidays Safe sailing
Pacificdaze Posted December 3, 2017 #2 Share Posted December 3, 2017 We like small tour groups for a personalised experience, eg. 12 on a catamaran or even fewer in a van. The best tours that are highly rated in Cruise Critic or Trip Advisor will be sold out long before your ship arrives in port, with 1000s of passengers looking for last-minute options. Remember there can be several large cruise ships in port on that day. My advice is book as soon as you've done some research on tours that appeal to you. Most tour providers reply promptly, some want a deposit, but others don't require payment until the day of the tour. Please remember to reconfirm closer to your cruise. Your roll call should have helpful suggestions, or you can ask what others are doing. Happy planning and anticipating your next cruise. skylork Posted December 5, 2017 #3 Share Posted December 5, 2017 You want to book prior to going on your cruise, if not, there is a strong possibility you will be doing a tour of the dock, with the anchor rope the feature of the day. It's not that tours are not there available, but given the short amount of time the ships are docked, your best bet is to book before. Look for all-inclusive deals, that way, your pockets are not hammered.
