Car rental and snorkeling

Here is an idea we have. We arrive to Bonaire on November 8th at 8:00 AM and are on the island until 10:00PM. We are usually less than impressed with the length of time that the excursions actually give us in the water when it comes to snorkeling. Anyways, we are thinking of renting a car not far from the port. Touring the island and selecting a site to shore snorkel, possibly Wayaka 2 up in the National Park (I've heard this is a pretty good spot)

My questions are, does this sound feasible? Are there any other shore snorkeling areas you would recommend?
