Victoria BC Transit

Recommended Posts

Has anyone used BC Transit to get around Victoria from the ship's dock? The cost is $2 ea way or $6 all day. Would it be too confusing or too much lost time waiting for buses to get around city?

My husband and I got the all day passes two years ago and it was well worth the money. We never had to wait more than a few minutes for a bus and the drive from the pier to Victoria city center was short. Plus-we got a better guide talk from one of the drivers than we did from our tour guide! In fact my sister and I are going on the same cruise in May.

Thank you for the info. Where did you catch the bus from when you disembarked from the ship? Are the bus stops visible? Also, where did you get your all day passes from? Can you order them in advance? I have ordered all day bus passes from Seattle. The passes are in the mail...We leave in May.

You can't miss seeing the bus, they park right out side the Customs building at the pier and are clearly marked. It's easy to find bus stops within Victora for return trips. There's one at the side of the Empress Hotel. Also-there's a great tourist imformation center right across the street from the Empress, you can even book same-day tours there. We bought our bus pass right from the driver, no need to order in advance.

You'll love Victoria!

Transit in Victoria and Vancouver runs pretty well. In Victoria they even have double-decker buses on some routes, keeping up the local saying that Victoria is more English than England. Most of the sights in Victoria are downtown and you can walk most spots. A neat way to see Victoria from the water is to take the little water ferries than run a couple different routes, quite scenic.

Here's the transit website:

The ferries are not part of the transit system.
