Carolyn&Phil Posted November 2, 2005 #1 Share Posted November 2, 2005 We will be doing a full transit in March, and have questions about the aerial trams. During the transit, we may take the Gamboa Aerial Tram & Miraflores tour. Any comments or suggestions? In Puntarenas we are interestged in the Aerial Tram Pacific. Comments? Is taking both worth it, or are we going to see the same things? Thanks for answering our questions:)
Host Caroline Posted November 4, 2005 #2 Share Posted November 4, 2005 IMHO stay on the ship during the transit! If you do this itin again maybe get off but it's a fascinating day.. I would do aerial tram in Costa Rica and stay on the ship for the full transit and experience the locks etc. from the ship and get the full "perspective"

Thanks for answering our questions:) During our partial transit last December, we took the Costa Rica's Favorites tour that included the aerial tram along with the Tortugero Canals. It was out standing and a similar tour is probably offered on the Pacific side. We found the tram sedate and scenic (almost exclusively foliage - no animals), but if you want to see wildlife you will have to get out on the canals. We saw sloths, howler monkeys, iguanas, a huge croc, numerous caimans, bats, water fowl, etc. When we return for a full transit, we will stay onboard for the full effect of the passage. Have a great cruise!
Carolyn&Phil Posted November 4, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted November 4, 2005 Thank you so much, Caroline and Mike for your suggestions. It sounds like our best bet is to stay on the ship and enjoy the Panama Canal.
