pier dropoff

If we are going to the pier on our own, what happens to our larger pieces of luggage (the one's that don't fit through x-ray)? Does a ship porter take them and bring them to our cabin like they had been picked up at the airport? Or is there some other procedure. I don't worry about the weight because we pack very lightly but we would like to only bring one large suitcase for the two of us instead of 2 smaller ones.

Like you, we also drive ourselves to the pier. All you do is have your travelling partner or cab drop you and all your luggage off at the curb where indicated. Give all the luggage you don't want to carry to one of the porters. Make sure you've filled out a luggage tag for each bag. The customary tip is $1 to $2 per bag. They will put them on a gurney and the next time you see them will be in the hall outside your cabin.
