Stateroom assigned at embarkation?

We have just received docs for SD1, March 26, St. Thomas r/t, with a deck 2 gty. I thought that, this close to sailing, the gty would be assigned, but I guess not? Is it typical for SD to assign gtys at embarkation? Does this bode well for an upgrade? Not really sweating it, because their are no bad staterooms on SD. I hope that the local taxi drivers know where the various ships are docking (for embarkation), because home office sure doesn't! Thanks for any information.

The only time I've sailed with a deck 2 gty on Sea Dream, I was not upgraded, but the ship was full and yes, I got my stateroom at at embarkation.

Previously, we had a deck 2 cabin assigned (specific requested a year before at booking) and were upgraded to a deck 3 due to a family group which used our deck 2 cabin (children and nanny adjacent to parents). We actually prefer deck 2 if the seas are a little rougher.

As you get closer to embarcation Miami should be able to tell you the port. Andrew Cohen is the best of the reps. It is surprising that your port is not noted on the web site or on your docs. As I've had explained to me by Miami, there are a total of only 11 people working at headquarters in Miami and Norway (at least as of December 2005) so some details get omitted.

Have fun.

Cu on board,
