Wind Surf from Venice

When we went on the Surf out of Venice back in 2001, Windstar used the Hotel Bauer (http://www.bauervenezia.com). A very nice hotel (great location)located right on the Grand Canal and only a ten minute walk from St. Marks Square. Breakfast on their patio on the grand Canal was awesome. For our transfer through Windstar from the airport to the hotel, they put the six of us that came in on our flight into a private water taxi and took us to the hotel. When we entered the Grand Canal from a side channel the views were outstanding.

For the transfer to the ship from the hotel the group (about 30 people) were again put onto a private boat and taken to the cruise ship pier. When the ship departs you sail/motor right by St. Mark's square and through the lagoon. A memorable experience.

BE SURE...be absolutely sure...you are in Piazza San Marcos (St. Mark's Square) when the ship sails by (ending the cruise prior to yours or starting the cruise after yours).

If you have your camera you'll get some totally unforgettable shots as the ship sails past the gondolas, Vaporetti and the gorgeous setting.

It'll take some research to get your timing right but you'll find that it is definitely worth the effort.

Venice is by far our favorite city!
