jacksonville, fl hotel recommedation

can anyone recommend a decent hotel in jacksonville, fl for mid sept o7 sailing we are 7 traveling together and are looking for a hotel with shuttle and free parking or a decent rate and park at the pier. thanks for any input

You will have several good options to choose from.

In April 2006, we stayed at the Clarion Airport and Conference Center. We were very satisfied with our room, breakfast, leaving our car there during the cruise, and shuttle to the port and back to the hotel.

The closest motel to the port is the Holiday Inn Express on New Berlin Rd.

Choose "Northside/Airport" location for closest to the port, "cruise packages" for special offers type, then hit "search."

The current list includes Holiday Inn Airport, Travelodge Inn and Suites, Wingate by Wyndham Airport, Best Western Jax Airport, Hampton Inn and Suites Airport.

Notice that some of these specials only include the free shuttle for two people.

If you do a mapquest from the airport (JAX) to the port (9810 August Drive, 32226), you will see the distance is about 12½ miles, so any motel in the area of the airport will be relatively close to the cruise port.

It's off Airport Road and provides from the airport and a shuttle to the port. It's near some restaurants (Ruby Tuesday for one.) It was perfect and the price was right.

I vote for the Holiday Inn Express on New Berlin Road. Less than a mile from the Jaxport Cruise Terminal. Only hotel close by. New and nice hotel with a wonderful and friendly staff. Offer free cruise shuttle. Great continental breakfast. Stayed there in April and wouldnt hesitate to again.

thanks for the info on hotels in jacksonville fl turns out one of the ladies traveling with us, her husband has over 130,000 hilton honors points so he got us two rooms at the Hilton Garden Inn at the airport so we only will have to pay for taxes and expences this works out to less than $18.00 pp for parking at the pier I think we really lucked out on this one. I hope the hotel is as nice as the pictures on the web.:D
