day trip from St John

We'll be in St John on a cruise in October and are trying to decide if we should do a tour to St Andrews or St Martins. The 1st one is longer (by 2 hours) and if we do that we probably won't have time to also sightsee and shop in St John. Is that a big negative?

Hi. I live in Saint John, and to be honest, you are going to spend 3 of the however many hours the tour is to st. andrews on the bus. It take 1h30min to drive there each way. St. Martins is very nice and only 45 min away. as well there is a lot of historic sites within walking distance of where your ship will be docking. you can goto http://www.tourismsaintjohn.com
to see everything there is to do here. hope you have a good cruise

I don't mind time spent on the bus if there's some interesting scenery along the way. They say we'll pass through the New Brunswick countryside and a scenic drive along the Bay of Fundy coast. Are they making it sound better than it really is?

It all depends on where they take you. if they drive the main HWY #1 you will just see trees, but if they turn off and and drive through all the little "villages" along thw way, it can be very senic.

The big advantage to St. Andrews is that there's more to do when you get there. St. Martins is pretty, and there are a few craft shops, but if shopping is what you want, pick St. Andrews. It also has Kingsbrae Gardens, one of the top ten gardens in Canada. I like them both, but for different reasons.
