Birds in Cozumel

Tons of birds here. Flamingo season is just starting to heat up. We do have swallows, hummers, rosette (SP?) spoonbills, frigites, pelicans, vultures, and a ton of colorful little migritory birds. I have seen tons out at Punta Sur. Was out at Chankanaab last week and didn't really see much. And it seems to be butterfly season too. I have seen many beautifully colored ones over the past week...blues, purples, reds,...breath taking ones.

oddly enough, I just read an article saying that some orinthologists discovered the "cozumel thrasher" while here. Apparently, native to Cozumel (hence the name) it was thought to be extinct.

I'll buy anyone a margarita who can show me what a "cozumel thrasher" looks like though.

I'm an internet research junkie - so it was a challenge worthy of meeting - although it didn't take but 5 minutes to locate.

We'll be at Paradise Beach probably middle day - we're doing the Atlantis Submarine first - then heading to see Tom and his crew.
