Hi CC Friends,

Today I received an email from a Marketing Associate from the Port of Baltimore saying they read my thread here on cruise critic. Never know who's out there huh?

I'm just glad I praised them all for their organizational skills !!!

Carrie

Carrie,

How cool is that! With the use of the internet nowadays you really don't know who might be reading what you have to say. It's almost how scarey it could be lol...

Freaky huh.... I was shocked ... Wish Carnival would have read the review instead. A nice OBC would have been nice.

Or maybe free parking in Baltimore ?

I know keep dreaming.

We arrived at Nassau and took the #10 Jitney to the Sheraton Cable Beach resort. I've stayed at Sandals cable beach years ago and loved it up there.

For a day pass Sheraton is $25.00 per person to use their facilities.

We walked right onto their property as if we owned the place and made it through the lobby and onto the pool areas . Thats where the pool attendant stopped us. Basically he knew we were from the ship.

He bargained with us and he said make me an offer.

I offered $10.00 per person and for that $20.00 he handed us two hotel beach towels and told us to enjoy our stay. WE DID.

Gorgous property, Two big pools, the one we enjoyed had beautiful waterfalls.

Yes.. I have pics but have to learn how to do this here.

We also enjoyed the hot bubbly hot tub.. We had 5 minutes of rain but had a nice size palm tree overhead so it was fine. We were wet anyway and there was no lightening.

The beach was gorgous BUT there was so much seaweed that we didn't stay in the ocean.

The Wyndham was next store and also looked nice.

We left about 4 and hopped back on the jittney and did some shopping in Nassau before heading back on the ship.

We sat at the docks for about an hour while my honey enjoyed his cigar..

Have great shots of the Atlantis, cable beach sheraton , pier etc..

Just show me how and I'll show you pics..

Next page,,,

Freeport.. Our favorite

Hi - don't know if anyone else has asked, but can you walk over to the Atlantis from the Sheraton Cable Beach? If not, what transportation is available and at what cost (if you know) Thanks so much.

NOOOOOOOOOOOO too long of a walk. It's about a 15-20 min jitney ride ($1.25 e/way ) from the ship to cable beach. The Atlantis is in another direction ...

Thanks so much for your prompt reply. Do you suggest we either do one place or the other or can we do both in one day? Thanks again.

It all depends on what you'd like to do. We absolutely loved the beach & pools at the Sheraton and it's lots cheaper than Atlantis. We didn't want the huge crowds that happen at Atlantis.

What you can do is go to Cable beach for the day time and in the evening taxi over to the Atlantis to check out their hotel / casino.

Google Atlantis and see if thats for you.

If you go there you can book in advance a day room at Comfort suites and you'll get wristbands for full use at Atlantis. It's cheaper than buying the pass directly from Atlantis but it gives you access either way.

Did you check out my link to webshots pix I posted . Tons of Pix from the Sheraton Cable beach. We really loved it there and if we go again we'd do the same exact thing.

Thanks so much again. I think that is what we'll do - Sheraton day - then try to get to Atlantis in the evening for a bit. I did see the pics - it does look great. thanks again.

Hi Carrie,

On your cruise, did you find that just as many people dressed up for the second elegant night as the first? I've read on the boards that the second night is sometimes even less "elegant".

Also, on our second cruise a few years back we chose not to attend elegant night festivities and also only ate in the dining room once or twice. This time around we feel like we want to enjoy a nice "sit down" lunch and dinner daily. (I guess we are getting older :D) Anyway, what do the elegant nights entail? Dinner, picture taking and what else?

I love the pose on your picture in your posts. I showed my husband and said I want one of our pictures posed like that!!

Thanks!

Hi vacation barbie ...

On the second elegant night some were dressed some weren't . But in all honesty we don't sit and see what people are wearing. I noticed occasionally saying She looks pretty, he looks nice etc.. but didn't make a habit of it. You will see mostly those getting their pix taken are dressed up more but I don't remember seeing anyone going overboard if you know what I mean.

I can relate to the "getting older" comment even though we're mid 40's we really enjoyed all of our lunch & dinners in the MDR for the first time. We usually would have eaten lunch at the buffet and maybe once or twice MDR. This time the food was SO great in the MDR we chose to do it everyday. I think one time coming back on the ship from nassau we quickly grabbed something at the buffet but ate light as we knew dinner was a few hours away.

Nothing else for the elegant night festivities that we saw. They do come in the dining rooms taking pictures or their all set up in the lobby areas. So many different settings, the one in my signature was our favorite (Ok My favorite) ... When we were watching another couple ahead of us my BF said to me "You're not doing that to me"... Oh yes I did and its the best one..

They are $21.99 each !!!! Be prepared.

I bought that one and stood up the others and snapped pictures from my camera and guess what... it worked. They came out fine.

When do you go again?

Carrie

We go on 01/17/10.

I have a gown for the first elegant night and thinking to "dress down" a little for the second night, maybe a fancy blouse and black slacks or a pant suit of some kind. Or, not even go at all. This will be our first time dressing up formally (went to court house for our wedding) so although I am excited to wear the gown the first night I don't know if I want to have to fuss with doing it a second time!! I'm not really a girly girl!! :p DH is excited to put on a tux!

Maybe during the second elegant night we can sneek off to eat dinner in the buffet!! :D

We are both 38 years old. This will be our 13th wedding anniversary cruise. We plan to relax, take it easy and have a great time. We have been to both Nassau and Freeport already so we haven't planned any excursions. We are more excited about being on the boat this time than anything!! For our 10th anniversary we flew over to Freeport and stayed at the Westin Our Lucaya that you loved in your review!

I love the "take a picture of the picture" idea!! I'll give the camera to my husband and dare him to do it!!

No matter what you wear you'll be fine. I wore a Blouse w/ Elegant black pants w/ beading on the bottom. Really pretty and I liked it.

Once you get throught the holidays it'll be time to start packing !!!

I'm a girly girl sometimes . You can dress me up or dress me in jeans and a sweatshirt. I fit in whatever the situation (try to anyway).

My BF wouldn't wear a tux. I'm glad we packed his dress pants , dress shirts and ties for this one. Our last three before this were more on the casual side.

I really love the Our Lucaya resort area. We had such a nice day there.

Just got an email from a travel discount company today for either a 3-4 or 5 night stay w/ airfare at a GREAT price.. It's for "Our Lucaya"!!! 4 different hotels to choose from.

If you're interested in seeing them shoot me an email .
