Hi, we are thinking of booking a princess cruise for 2011. Our first was on RCCL back in Feb of this year..so one question, do princess offer the price drop facility when booking direct with them? and does this apply to UK cruisers? cheers :-)

Hi Mandy - UK cruisers do not get price drops, nor do we get a full refund of our deposit if we change our minds between booking and paying the balance. Very different booking conditions apply to UK cruisers. The only time UK clients get price drops is if you book with a US TA. There are numerous threads re this practice but it appears that of late many US TA's who used to book UK clients are no longer doing so. My advice would be to shop around. Before I booked our 2011 cruise, I phoned 14 cruise specialists - you'll find plenty on the net and in the press - and asked them to give me a quote. Before you phone, pick your cruise, the date, the deck and the specific class of cabin, eg. I asked for quotes for Caribbean Collection, Feb 14 2011, Caribe deck, BB cabin. I wanted cruise only as we want to stay for a few days in Ft Lauderdale pre and post cruise and we don't want to fly BA. The quotes I received were between £2194 and £1472. Guess which one we booked! Good luck and enjoy your cruise.

Hi Ros many thanks for the info. It's the caribbean adventurer we're interested in maybe for May 2011, as we've never done Princess before the cabin section is somewhat of an unkown quantity, therefore maybe i need to do more investigation to be sure of getting what we want. All i know is that we had a balcony on RCCL and now wouldn't settle for anything less :p. Descisions descisions!!!

The Caribe deck has balcony cabins and were recommended to me on this board as they have part covered balconies which are bigger than balconies on the other decks. When we went on the SE Asia cruise on the Diamond we had a mini-suite but that was for our 40th WA and my 60th so we splashed out a bit! The mini-suites do have a bath and a balcony but to be honest we spent so little time in the cabin it wasn't worth the extra expenditure. We hardly used the sitting-room. I've learned everything about Princess on this board and have received lots of very useful info for any questions I have asked. It gets a bit addictive doesn't it? :)

Indeed it does! this time last year we had never thought of cruising would you believe! but now we've gone and done it, we're hooked (as is usually the case i'm told) also these boards are a mine of information if you have the inclination to delve deep enough.
