Buying beer in Tampa

Two questions:

 

1. Do grocery stores sell beer in Tampa, or just in liquour stores?

 

2. We are staying at the Embassy Suites on North Westshore Boulevard, is there any place close to buy a six pack of beer?

We have stayed at that hotel before and will again this week.

 

There is a liqour store close by.

Grocery stores here sell beer; most have pretty good selections of the bigger brewing companies, including imports.

 

Most CVS & Walgreens drug stores also sell beer; they typically carry the major brewers (Anhueser Busch, Miller) along with the highly popular imports (Heineken & a couple of others).

 

Most convenience stores (including the little stores attached to gas stations) sell beer with limited selection - typically the major brewing company products.

To expand on the above:

 

There aren't any grocery stores right near that hotel.

 

There is a Walgreens a few blocks (3 or 4) south of the hotel, at the corner of Westshore Blvd & Kennedy (go out of the hotel to Westshore, turn left, go down a few blocks & it will be on your left). Also, almost right next door to that Walgreens there is a small, locally owned liquor store (it's just on the other side of the Taco Bell that is immediately adjacent to the Walgreens). It's walkable as long as you don't have mobility issues.

 

As you're going along Westshore, there are several convenience stores and/or gas stations with small convenience stores inside them. Most/all of these will have the basic beers (Bud, Bud Light, Miller Lite & such).

Actually - there is a HUGE liquor store just a mile or so from where you'll be staying. It's on Dale Mabry...right off of 275 and, if taking the back roads it's even closer. It's called Total Wine & Spirits and they have EVERYTHING under the sun....good prices too. There is also a Target in the same plaza...in case you need any other last minute items.
