Disney Dream - Construction Photos

Okay, what gives ?

The static webcam picture shows Dream's forward funnel partially uncovered now - lots of red visible.

But the other webcam, the one that continually refreshes, shows the funnel still fully covered.

I know Disney's "magical" and all that, but which image is actually current ??

Im thinking the static one is current. The pic I saw last night when I looked was more of a side shot of the Dream. The new pic was taken within the last few days to hours.MW updates that pick weekly(usually on weds) I think judging by the time stamps on the pics.

yesterday I visited Meyerwerft shipyard again and my main interest was the growing of brand new Disney Dream. And she is growing fast.

As usual the light conditions were not the best and taking photos through through a glass wall is not optimal. Anyhow there might be some interesting photos for you. Since many of you are interested in details I decided to present the pictures a bit larger than usual. By the way the ship in front of the Disney Dream is Celebrety Silhouette which will be finished in spring 2011.

Besides this I got the information that Disney Dream will leave the shipyard building at the end of October. Only two weeks later she will depart to Eemshaven in the Netherlands where the final works will be done. Before the middle of December she will be handed over to Disney Cruises and will go to Miami immediately.

As you know I am interested in presenting interior photos. For this reason I will contact Disney Cruises in the coming weeks to get permission for taking photos maybe in December at Eemshaven. If anybody has any idea how to proceed in the best way or good relation to Disney Cruises please let me know.

Why is she going to Miami ? Her homeport is Port Canaveral.

Ill try and call DCL tom, but Andreas had asked someone ( I think I saw it on another board)at the yard about her, and the person responded with Miami when reffering to the ships timetable. The reason he gave was that most ships that leave MW head for Miami, and the person could have been confused about her destination.

If I had to guess, if anything, shell met her cousins in or near CC for a photo op,(someone I saw posted they had worked out all 3 scheds and found that there is a poss that the Magic and the Wonder, could possibly be near each other in the Bahamas area, for a photo op,with the Dream as the Wonder leaves or just before she leaves for the west coast.)From there shell prob come home, to PC,poss escorted by the Magic, as the Wonder was when she came home from Italy. If nothing else, Disney is real good with photo ops with the ships.

I found Andreas response on the other baord, as there were several others who had the same question.

"sorry, sorry, sorry! Before any misunderstanding or misinformation occurs!

I asked yesterday a tourist guide in the shipyard and maybe she was wrong. In the last years most of the cruise ships built by Meyerwerft for an american cruise line went to Miami. Miami = USA ;-) .

Therefore it could easily be mistaken.

Andreas "

  • 2 weeks later...
Couple of new shots ~~

Port Side:

On the top picture, you can see the white supports where the transom figures will be mounted. There's also what looks like an engine exhaust sticking out. Possibly an emergency generator.

In the bottom photo, you can see where they will be carrying containers on deck! Awesome, she's a freighter!
