Port or starboard side for New Orleans view when leaving

True, port side for leaving New Orleans will give you the views, BUT then you immediately make a sharp turn and suddenly the aft will give you the views. Before you know it, you'll be gone from New Orleans city views. I like the port side at that point. Later down the river, the small towns are mainly on the starboard side and the starboard becomes my preferred side.

I like to book starboard but be on the top aft of the ship when leaving. You do a 180 in the river and it's really cool seeing it from a higher vantage point. Then, as you leave New Orleans, you'll have the aft views leaving the city. If it gets windy, I move to a lower deck on the port side to watch the plantations, sugar mills, etc. Later that night, I enjoy watching the towns go by from my starboard window (or preferrably balcony!). That's my way of doing it!
