One-day sightseeing help

We will be in Bermuda (West End) from 8am to 5pm on Saturday July 31. Our plan is to purchase a ferry-bus pass, and put together our own sightseeing route. We are a party of 9.

I was thinking of catching the first ferry to St. George. Does the ferry run on weekends, because the schedule I found online only lists Mon-Fri times, unless I am looking in the wrong place.

Then, after spending about 2 hours there, we'd like to take a bus to Horseshoe Beach (or one of the other south shore beaches). And, after about two hours, we'll take a bus back to Dockyard.

Would this work? Does anyone have any suggestions, or better ideas?

Our original plan was to book a private taxi tour, but we couldn't find a guide with a vehicle large enough for all 9 of us, and we didn't want to split up into two taxis,

This is how I see the time:

  • Ferry from Dockyard to St George's - :40 minutes
  • Tour of SG - 2:00 hours
  • Bus ride to Hamilton - :45 minutes
  • Bus ride to Horseshoe Bay - :25 minutes
  • At HSB - 2:00 hours
  • Bus ride to Dockyard - :35 minutes
  • TOTAL travel & touring time - 6 hours 25 minutes excluding waiting time

  • first Saturday ferry departs at 9:45A
  • Cruise ship departs at 5:00P; s/b aboard at 4:30P
  • TOTAL available time: 6 hours 45 minutes

It is doable but very tight. I would shorten the tour times. Who is responsible to keep your group together & does everyone in the group agree to your plan/schedule?

The route #7 bus which you will use for the Hamilton - Horseshoe Bay - Dockyard legs runs every 30 minutes on Saturday; maybe 2 taxis would be better to get back to the Dockyard. Bathing suits are not allowed on buses so include time for showering and changing. There is no time for a lunch stop so carry snacks; there is a concession stand at HSB

This thread http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?p=24887898&posted=1#post24887898 explains the special Dockyard - SG ferry.

I'm sure other members will check my numbers & assumptions and offer other plans/improvements .

Thanks for scheduling that out for us. I'm not comfortable cutting it that close...maybe we'll just do the beaches instead.

I'm confused about the busses...do we actually have to shower and change, or can we just dry off and put shorts and a top on over our swimsuits?
