Ryndam Fjords, what side of the ship will give us the best views?

Please excuse my ignorance we are looking at booking our 2nd cruise and are looking at the Fjords and have found the 7 day Norwegian Fjords cruise. We are looking at a Deluxe Verandah Suite, can any one recommend a side of the ship that would be best for the views on scenic cruising days (am I right in thinking these rooms are only on one deck).

Does anyone have any recomendations as to a good way of booking this at the best price (we live in the uk) I have read about people getting on board credits for booking via certain agents, not sure what they exactly are though and how we would get them  If they are indeed worth having...

I asked this same question some time ago when my parents were considering the same kind of cruise I believe you are considering now.

Here's a link to my question and the answers I got.

Ps. No cruise for my parents in 2011 but DH and I are booked on a 7-day Ryndam cruise (Norway) in 2011. :) We booked directly via HAL as we got a very good price from them (much better than from an online TA from the US that we have previously used). We got a free PG dinner for two when we booked (just a couple of days ago).

Thanks! :D Sounds like port is the right side. Is the 7 day cruise you are doing the fjords one? Excuse my lack of knowledge but what is a PG dinner?

Port is actually on the left hand side (when looking from the back of the ship to the front). You can remember it by thinking port = four letters, left = four letters. Learned it on CC. ;)

Yes we are doing the fjords one. :)

PG dinner means Pinnacle Grill dinner. Pinnacle Grill is HAL's speciality restaurant which has a cover charge of $20 per person so our "perk" is worth $40.

Thanks! That is the one we are looking at! Did you look at other liners as well or are you just HAL fans and didn't look any further.

Sorry, I meant Port being the right side of the ship for us not on the right side I can see how that read badly :o.

:D OMG - I only just now realized what you ment by port being right. :D

We also booked a cabin on the port side. We chose this time a cabin without a balcony (CQ category) as we tend not to use it so often even when we are cruising the Caribbean. However we wanted to be close to the Lido deck and the gym.

For us the priority for this cruise was 7 days and "close to home" (we live in Scandinavia - not in Norway ;)). We have cruised HAL quite many times before so the choice for us was quite easy. Also we didn't want a cruise that would go to the capital cities of the Baltics/Scandinavia because they are too familiar for us (Stockholm, Helsinki, Tallinn, Copenhagen etc).
