Splendour 1/29/05 review

Just returned from Splendour of the Seas to the western Caribbean from Jan 29th to Feb 5th.

This was our 4th cruise but the first one with Royal Caribbean. All others had been with Carnival. I can definately say that at least on this trip, it was not the "party" atmosphere that was around on our prior trips with carnival. Average age of the passengers seemed to be a bit older than the Carnival cruises we've been on. The ship was beautiful. True, its not the newest ship on the seas, but its been well taken care of. We had no complaints about the service or any problems with the ship at all. About the only complaint we had at all was the coffee was pretty bad in every area of the ship. Makes me wonder if it was the type of coffee or the water. Everything else was excellent! RCCL and Carnival seem to be about the same in most other areas. I believe Carnivals rooms might be a tad larger, but nothing major. The food was excellent! Service excellent! Beautiful weather!

For those of you who are cruising this ship in the near future, not to worry. I left enough money in the casino that they can afford the gas to take you on your cruise, lol.

Instead of making a long review here I would be more than happy to answer any questions anyone might have about the ship or what we did at the ports of call. Just drop me an email at JP1027@aol.com

K9cop, too bad we never hooked up! Did you happen to be in the casino Weds. night, Belize, formal night? I was the lucky $600 jackpot winner on Red, White, and Blue!!!

Kaz,I'm sure we saw each other if you spent any time in the casino. Spent most of my time at the craps table and blackjack. My sister in law was in that slot tourney too! Congratulations on the win!!! As for me...well lets just say I made sure they had enough gas money for the next group of passengers, lol.

The trip was fantastic!! I was suprised how cold it got that last day. Brrrrr. What I got a kick out of, was that even though it was overcast, windy and cold, and NO ONE was using any of the pool chairs....I still saw many chairs that had sandals, towels, etc.... "reserving" them. Geeze, I guess some people just have to make sure they get something even if they dont want it, lol.

Now it back to work.....

Wow! You just got home Saturday & here you are kind enough to let us interrupt your unpacking with all our questions. That’s very kind of you! :) We are boarding the Splendour this Saturday.

For those who have Transfers, how often do the busses leave from Tampa airport to the pier?

What time did they start letting you on the ship?

At the port, did you stand in lines according to the deck your stateroom is located?

Was there a separate check in lines for Diamond Members?

Did you make it to Grand Cayman?

How did they coordinate passengers getting off for Excursions?

Was there any distinguishing between people who booked excursions on their own & those who booked thru RCCL? Was one group allowed off before the other?

Which Excursions were sold out!?

How were the seas?

Thanks for taking the time to help us out.

Take care,

Suzy B
