thanks! I am staying 2 nights after the cruise too in condado. so you recon old san juan on a sat night will be more fun? only thing is the sheraton sold out the night im there and the other hotels dont look great - no pool or beach. but perhaps it wont be a bad thing to miss the beach that day as ill have plenty of beaches on the cruise. i want the best place for partying and also being close to the peir to save on taxis might be better for us. ok ill look again at the hotels in OSJ , thanks

CHECK OUT "da house" HOTEL WEBSITE. IT SITS RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF OLD SAN JUAN ON A STREET WHERE ALL THE BARS ARE. IN FACT IT SITS ON TOP OF A SALSA CLUB . THE ROOMS ARE CLEAN AND NICE...RATES ARE $80-$120 A NIGHT. IT'S CLOSE TO EVERYTHING AND WALKING DISTANCE TO THE PIER..WE WILL BE THERE IN JANUARY FOR A PRE-CRUISE STAY.

The Conrad Condado hotel is a great location to party if that's what you are looking for. They have three pools, one with a swim up bar, a small local beach, lots of bars, restaurants and a nice casino right at the hotel. A taxi to OSJ cost about $9 and is only a few minutes away.

Isla Verde is about 15-20minutes from OSJ, right near the airport. It has the best beaches, but don't know about the nightlife

We stayed at the Water and Beach Club in Isla Verde for 2 nights in February. It was a last minute booking when we found we couldn't get back home due to almost 3 feet of snow coming down after our cruise! It's located right across the street from a beautiful beach, and the guys there will set up your chairs for you whereever you want. The hotel is pretty cool, although the rooms are definitely small/cozy. I'm not sure how much of a party scene they actually get at that hotel but they are set up for it. You're also within very easy walking distance to both the Intercontinental and the El San Juan. I've seen lively parties in the evening at both of those, particularly at the El.

Kikkycat

Do you know how much a cab is to here from the airport and crusieport?

Thanks!

From the Water Club? We rented a car when we got the "bonus" time post cruise, so no, I'm afraid I don't. We did taxi from the Pan Am pier to the Intercontinental (our pre-arranged one night rental post cruise) and with two suitcases I believe it was around $18-20. But my memory for figures is really awful.

ive booked the marriott because it was on sale, and because, although I love the water beach club, i would have to share a bed with my mum.

im sure that when im there, people will point me in the direction of the best place to party. we may try and get a bus into OSJ and taxi back to the marriott

We stayed at Hotel Milano last year and we are staying at DaHouse this year. We are really beach people too, but you will have a beach day every day on the boat if you want it, which is what we did last year. DaHouse has a night club under it that has been on several TV shows here and the web site and TripAdvisor etc, all give great ratings. We just loved the amtosphere in OSJ.

I am glad to hear something about the Water and Beach club. We are flying in 2 days before cruise in Sept and I got Sheraton Old Town on Priceline. Then we decided to stay over the night the ship gets back in and fly home the next day and I did Priceline thinking I would get the Marriott or the Sheraton and got the Water Beach club. Lots of very mixed reviews so I am glad to hear from someone who liked it! (ps..I got it for $75.00 on Priceline)
