tender tickets - input from recent Baltic cruisers

Hi recent Baltic cruisers

We have a few questions about arriving in Nynashamn on the Sun.

Did the ship arrive on time?

Did tendering start on time?

How did the tender ticket thing work? I understand suite guests get priority and why shouldn't they. Disagree that those on NCL tours should get on tenders before those of us who don't take their tours but maybe that's not the case.

When are tender tickets available to us people in the cheap seats?

How long before sail time di you have to be back at Nynasham?

Lots of questions but we've decided to pre-book a maxi taxi into Stockholm and just want to work out the logistics before confirming times with the taxi company

thanks in advance

pete

We took this cruise on July 10th - AMAZING! We were on time for every single port and left on time as well. Last returning tender at Nynashamn was technically at 5pm however at 5:15 I was watching (from the ship) a tender going back to get more people. We were due to pull away at 6pm - we did.

Only one person needed to pick up tender tickets for entire group. "Tickets for independent guests available from 7:45am onwards at the Casino Host Desk, Deck 7, midship."

We did not book an NCL exercusion and my husband picked up tickets for tender #3. However, we got on with tender group #2 because there were empty seats. We were on shore at 8:30am without rushing.

The NCL crew member asked if we had tender tickets #2 with a big wink and took them without looking. There wasn't anyone in line at the time so our timing was perfect.

Just FYI since you have a taxi - at the marina they smoke fish daily (it's a 15 minute walk from the port - or about one mile.) It was delicious! We bought smoked salmon and herring, brie, and fresh bread. There were also a few cute little shops open in the afternoon. Lovely way to end the day - we walked back to the ship at 4:20 and waited for just one tender.

Any more questions?

Thanks heaps Tonia

yep, we're excited. Al was keen to see a bit of Nynashamn but I wanted to make the most of our time in Stockholm. Maybe we will come back a little earlier.

So the ship anchored on time at 7 then tender tickets were available from 7.45? Was this announced over the PA or in the days newsletter? Vasa Museum isn't even open until 9.30 or 10 so not sure why I'm so concerned!! Might just camp out near the casino Host desk in any case :D

thanks again

Yes - Every evening you recieve a "Freestyle Daily" with ship details and schedules for the next day. The tender ticket information is included plus the next morning they accounce the time and location on the PA system. (We could not hear the announcements clearly in our room so we opened our door as they are very clear in the hallway.)

Shore excursion guests do not pick up tender tickets - so they must be exiting first. As you said, that's fine because you will be off in plenty of time.

You wont have to allow for too much time in Nynashamn as it's very small. Even one hour at the harbour and town center is probably plenty. No need to purchase a HOHO ticket since both are walking distance from the pier.

I'm happy to anwer anymore questions. I like planning ahead as well.

TIP: If you're a frequent customer in the casino and the casino staff knows your name, see a casino host or the casino manager for early tender tickets the day before you need them. We did this for Belize where tender tickets were so hard to find I probably could have sold mine. ;-)

We were on the Jewel last year, doing this cruise. For whatever reasons NCL just doesn't leave enough time to really see Stockholm.

Stockholm was our favorite port on the entire crusie. we just loved our time there, short as it was. We docked at Frihamnem, inside Stockholm, but there were so many things we wanted to see and never got the chance.

IMVHO, forget seeing Nynashamn , as nice as it may be, and use whatever time you have to spend in magnificent Stockholm.

Just one extra point, do NOT miss the Vasa Museum. It is absolutely a remarkable place to visit.

If you need any advice about anything related to the ports etc, drop by the Baltics/Northern Europe boards. They have posters who live in most of the cities you will be visiting and can give you expert advice on anything.

Cheers
