Which would you suggest between Maya Chan or Nohoch Kay?

Booking thru Maya Chan beach club would be $280 for my family - with Island Marketing going to Nohoch Kay Beach club it would be $160 plus the cost of transportation.

So the first one is almost double the price but if it is worth it??? Or would we be just as happy with the 2nd place???

I tried to read everything about both and they seem to have good reviews each with the only difference is Nohoch Kay doesn't have transportation included.

We will be there in January 2011

Thanks!!

With Nohoch Kay, you are still on the malecon (southern end and less frequneted area though) and have the option to walk around and look at the shops/stalls for crafts and stuff. Jaime has a great rep as a chef (used to have a great seafood spot in Playa del Carmen). In Maya Chan, you'll be more isolated from cruisers just "wandering in off the beach" and thus a but more private as number of guests are limited. That's the big attraction to MC.

If we really are looking for a quiet day without crowds, but also want to do a little shopping at the end of the day, which one would you recommend? Maya Chan and stop in town on the way back? Or Nohoch Kay and wander around during our day there? THanks!
