Jeep Rental in St. Thomas

My DH and I will be in St. Thomas while on NCL Pearl 10-17. Has anyone ever rented a jeep and discovered the island on their own? How is the driving and is it easy to get around? Another question, is how is parking? We want to go to Sapphire Beach definitely. We did this in Cozumel, which was easy to get around (one road), and had a blast.

According to the schedule I looked at, you will be on St. Thomas on 10/20, not 10/17. Assuming the schedule I saw is correct, there will be two other ships in port the same day, Celebrity Solstice and Eurodam.

 

So it won't be a day of "epic" crowds, but it won't be particularly slow either.

 

For me, it's not bad driving there if you take a little time to figure out your route to where you want to go, and don't be in an awfully big hurry to get there.

 

After our most recent stay on St. John we had to return our jeep to the rental agency on St. Thomas, but my son wanted to check out the straw market first. That was a very busy cruise day, and it was raining to boot. I had to park a few blocks away, and drove around for 10 minutes or so until I found a legal place to park, so it's not too bad.

 

I've never been to Sapphire, so I can't speak as to the parking there, but I'd imagine that where there's a will, there's a way.
