cruisincantwait Posted February 16, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2005 One more question: How far away is the West Bank New Orleans motels from the Port, such as the Holiday Inn? It has a GREAT rate but wondering about distnace from the port. Thinking I may just book a limo to pick us up to take us to the port anyway, it is cheaper than a taxi at this point with 7 people needing transfer. Walking anywhere in the heat with my grandparents (81 & 85) is really out of the question. Dont want them having heat exhaustion or something? Thanks for any info!! mrs.tzdeerhunter Posted February 17, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 17, 2005 The West Bank Holiday Inn is not the most convenient to port or French Quarter but the price well than made up for the inconvience for us. Do you have an entertainment card? That price was unbelievable compared to those that we priced nearer the port.
cruisincantwait Posted February 17, 2005 Author #3 Share Posted February 17, 2005 I must not b/c not sure what it is. About how far away is the Holiday Inn from the port? About how long did it take to get to the port? THANKS!
Cotton Posted February 17, 2005 #4 Share Posted February 17, 2005 I'm sure you know that's across the MS River Bridge. The only deterrent I can see if that if traffic is blocked going across the river (as it sometimes is), or if you really want to spend time in the Quarter. Back and forth could be expensive, and there's really nothing much to do on the West Bank, as far as entertainment. However, Mardi Gras World is a fun spot...! Normal driving time to the port from that Holiday Inn would be approx. 20 min.
cruisincantwait Posted February 18, 2005 Author #5 Share Posted February 18, 2005 No, Cotton, I was not sure but thought so. I been asking on here b/c have never been to that area & it makes me nervous making arrangements for everybody when I dont know where I am going! THANKS! Skipping on the West Bank area.
