How early can you purchase gifts and gear for an upcoming cruise?

I am completely new to cruising, and we are going on our first cruise on the Enchantment on 07/28/2011. For holiday gifts friends and family want to purchase gift certificates to be used for on board credit, and also my mom wants to buy us champagne and strawberries to have in the room when we board - so my question is, is it too early for people to start buying these things from gifts & gear for us? Probably a silly question but I figured this would be the best place to ask. :D
