por911 Posted February 23, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2005 Will it be cheaper to buy drink coupons pre-cruise or just buy drinks on the cruise? I know they have daily drink specials so how will that work with coupons? We'll be on the Conquest 8-7.
TNtraveler Posted February 23, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 23, 2005 The drink coupons are sold 'including gratuity'. So, if you take that at face value and don't tip extra, you'll save money. If you're going to add a tip to the coupon anyway, you're only going to save pennies per use, because the coupons cost $4.88, and many bar drinks are $4.95. However, another potential saving is when a bartender accepts the coupon for a drink valued at more than $4.95. Some will, some won't. The lower-cost 'drink of the day' is often in a smaller serving glass.

Since the bartender knows they won't see the gratuity you'll get a weak drink - bring your own on board and between that and ordering, you'll be ahead of the game (we did just that last week on Imagination!) por911 Posted February 24, 2005 Author #4 Share Posted February 24, 2005 How'd you get it on board? I didn't think you could do that.

Try the 'Search' function -- there are dozens of 'sneaking liquor onboard' threads, and every one seems to solicit literally 100s of responses. In short, pack it securely in your checked luggage, and only rarely will it ever by discovered/confiscated.
