A cruise I took a few years ago stopped at Puerto Cortez, and there wasn't much around. A few vendors had set up along the port to sell crafts, etc., but other than that, the port is very industrial. I highly recommend that if you have the time and the opportunity that you take an excursion to Copan to see the Mayan ruins, which are spectacular. Another couple on our cruise found a taxi driver at the port who gave them a tour of the area for about $20, and there was a tour of the city of San Pedro Sula available as well, which was interesting.
