Taxi or Car Sevice-Times Square to Red Hook?

We will be staying near Times Square the day before our cruise. How expensive is a taxi from Manhatten to Red Hook? There are four of us, so would it be cheaper to use a car service?

a taxi should be in the $25 -30 range. but have the directions with you as most cabs honestly don't know how to get there. Assuming you are the west side of Manhattan the easiest directions are go west to the west side highway make a left(southbound) on the west side highway to the Brooklyn Battery Tunnel(toll $6.50) take the first exit(Hamilton Avenue) after the tunnel and make the first two lefts(yes you just made a U Turn) careful not to get back into the tunnel go straight ahead to Van Brunt St make a left and then the first right into the cruise terminal.

 

A car service you call will bring you a nicer car most times and cost about the same. But don't have the hotel call for you as most times you will pay extra for the privilege. I use Arecibo 7187836465 which is a call on demand car service- they don't do advance reservations well. Any of the major car services will do reservations better. Dial 7, Carmel etc.

Do you know what a car service from LGA to Red Hook would cost? Also, do they charge extra for a stop at a wine shop a few blocks from Red Hook?

If you go to their sites, they will tell you how much the charge will be. I am using dial7 and carmellimo in early May. These two car companies are recommended a lot on these boards. Check for the coupons too !!

Arecibo charges about $35-40 with an additional charge of about $5 for a stop...
