seasooze Posted July 15, 2011 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2011 We will be sailing on the final leg of Amsterdam's Grand Asia and Australia Voyage. We board in Sydney on November 15, 2011. When taking the final leg of a Grand Voyage will we still have an embarkation lunch, Mariner champagne brunch, etc? Does being on the final leg still get the "special" little gifts? arzz Posted July 15, 2011 #2 Share Posted July 15, 2011 No special embarkation lunch. You will receive whatever lunch service is offered that day. Most passengers on board will have been on board for the whole Grand Voyage -- turnover is usually rather small. Never fear, however, there will be lunch. There will be mariners receptions (usually more than one as almost everyone on board are mariners, and you will see an amazing number of gold and platinums on board), usually each with a luncheon. On the Prinsendam Grand Med this spring there were three receptions, each followed by a lunch. Invites were sorted by number of mariner days. On the Grand Med they held a welcome aboard reception for the fifty or so passengers who joined the ship in Venice -- half way through that cruise. It was a grand affair held in the Captain's quarters on the Prinsendam. If they hold a reception on the Amsterdam it will probably be held in the Crow's Nest. The usual practice on Grand Voyages is that you will receive whatever pillow gifts are presented to the rest of the passengers during the time you are on board. Have a great cruise!
