ikajus Posted March 23, 2005 #1 Share Posted March 23, 2005 Is it better to travel with cash or traveler's checks in Mexico? If I bring traveler's checks, where can I get them exchanged for pesos?
gregbarbra Posted March 23, 2005 #2 Share Posted March 23, 2005 We never do Traveler's checks, because there is an ATM almost everywhere in the world now and you get the best exchange rates with ATM's, even after paying the fee. (probably a good idea to call your bank that issued your ATM and tell them ahead of time that you will be out of the country making withdrawals so they dont get suspicious). You rarely need pesos in Mexico in the cruise ship ports...U.S. greenbacks are accepted most everywhere. If you must exchange money, do it at a bank instead of a money changer.
