St. Thomas Port? Havensight or Crown Bay

I thought it would be easy to arrange our own transport to Trunk Bay & Cinnamon Bay from St. Thomas. We'll hopefully be arriving as scheduled on May 5. Is it better to book a HAL excursion to get to these beaches. It's so confusing-which dock, dock may be changed despite what is documented. Just want to get to the beach & do some snorkeling.

 

Thanks in advance- those of you who have been with this board must have alot of patience to put up with those of us with less experience answering the same ole questions over & over. I've only been on a few weeks & there are some posts that even I'm tired of. It's the best feeling knowing that there are so many willing & helpful people out there.

I'd never pay HAL for a shore excursion to Megan's Bay when you can pay $6/pp for a taxi to the beach and a $3/pp entry fee - all up, its only $15/pp.
