Should I see pre-purchased OBC?

When I log into my reservation on ncl.com should I see OBC I buy listed in "Onboard Spending Money"? My reservation shows $300 I got from the initial booking but not the $25OBC I just purchased. I plan to buy the same amount every two weeks until my cruise so it would be nice to see it show up online.

In the past the only OBC that has shown up for me is the OBC issued from NCL. Anything I purchased for myself or sent to me by my TA never showed up before the cruise.

Additionally, I don't want you to get nervous when you board the ship. All the OBC I sent to myself, as well as the amount from my TA, didn't show up in my account until the second day of the cruise.

Hope that helps!

As Bella213 stated, you won't see your OBC that you purchased until about the 2nd day on the ship.

DON'T PURCHASE ANYMORE. PUT IT IN A BANK ACCOUNT AND SAVE IT YOURSELF. IT DOES NOT BENEFIT YOU AT ALL TO HAVE IT ON YOUR ACCOUNT.

I purchased $1100 (refundable) of on-board credit, had $100 (non-refundable) from NCL and $100 from my TA for a total of $1300 on-board credit. When we arrived at the pier, they still insisted I either had to give them a credit card or go to the credit desk and give them another $500 to open my account. I WAS LIVID!

Then as the days went by and I kept checking my account, the last night of the cruise showed $200 of my OBC and $100 of the NCL or TA OBC. So they used my purchased OBC before using any of the non-refundable OCB. I went to the credit desk and wanted to settle my account. The guy looked and said the refundable portion would be mailed to my home address. I WAS AGAIN LIVID!

So I went to the casino and got my $200 (the gal stated she couldn't cash out my non-refundable OBC). SO I went to the shop and bought a $99 watch. In the morning when my bill came it stated "21 cent credit that would be mailed to my home address". I have not received it yet, and we returned on 10/1.

I will never purchase on-board credit again on any cruiseline, and give them the power over my money.

So true. Why would you give them your money to hold if they give you nothing in return? If you're worried about spending it and see the OBC as forced savings, put it in your bank account, pay at the ship with a credit card, and pay off the credit card in full when you get the bill. That way, you maintain control of your money as long as possible and maybe even get a little interest (not a motivator these days I know).

Why should anyone have to wait for a cruise line to mail you a refund check of your own money?

When we buy OBC or anything else we always ask to be emailed "amenity confirmation". It only takes a few seconds and comes in a PDF file which is easy to print and bring along.

I had those printouts, and the girl at check-in (and her Supervisor) wouldn't even look at them. I still had to give them a credit card to swipe, or as the Supervisor told me "you can go to the credit desk and give them $500" the choice is yours.

Then at the end of the cruise to be told I couldn't get my leftover OBC, but "that a check would be mailed to my home address" is ludicrous. They knew that I had purchased those on-board credits. Not a reason in the World to not just refund me the left over portion.

We've always had a card in our room showing this OBC, and on our account immediately, just our experience.

The OP asked if they should see them, not if they should buy them. The people working check in at the pier do not work for NCL.

These amount dont show up. It is best to keep track as they will have it in your stateroom on the first day of cruising. Once you receive them you must take it to guest services in which they will become apart of your on board account. Remember if you are going to use at the casino there is a 3% convienience fee that you must pay:rolleyes:. It is a good idea to establish a budget this way. In the long run you will avoid extra charges to your credit or debit card.
