Walk to Zealandia Sanctuary

We are sailing into Wellington on New Year's Day. Does anyone know if it is feasible to walk from the ship to Zealandia or do we need to look for transportation, bus/ taxi. Any advice welcome. Buses NY's day?

There is a free shuttle bus from the top of the cable car to Zealandia. Best to email them and check operating schedule for New Years Day being a public holiday if this is not clear from the web site.

We are there on Good Friday and they replied very promptly to our queries.

ZEALANDIA is an awesome place to visit. I live nearby and have the benefit of their birdlife spreading out through the Valley and visiting the neighbourhood. There's not many places with a 500 conservation plan - this is the place to find out about NZ's unique environment. If it rains, the Visitor Centre is really worth a visit and on a sunny day, walking in the Valley is just outstanding.

 

This year ZEALANDIA introduced a free shuttle bus which runs on the half hour from the i-SITE Information Centre on Wakefield Street and on cruise days, the shuttle calls into the top of the Cable Car around 10 minutes before the hour and 10 minutes after. Enjoy!
