Christchurch this week?

I am currently on Diamond Princess and will be in Akoroa on Jan. 2. Thinking of doing the Christchurch on your own tour where Princess drops you off or the Lord of the Rings scenery tour.

 

Need to decide by tomorrow. Any damage in Christchurch from the recent quake this week? With 4 hours what would you recommend doing? One person has limited mobility, walks w a cane. We are not interested in museums, we like more shopping and scenery.

 

I have the lord of the rings one booked now for scenery only (never saw movie) and I am not sure which one to pick. At the same time I would feel bad missing Christchurch, though I am not sure what happened after the quake yesterday? Thanks
