Aussies on Oasis - 1st Cruise Questions

Hi, family of 4 boarding Oasis in December and as we have never been to Fort Lauderdale would like to have some questions answered.

1. We will have four large suitcases on arrival at FLL, would we be better organising a taxi or shuttle to our Hotel?

2. We are looking at staying at Gallery One Doubletree, as it is only for one night and we wish to be within walking distance of shops/restaurants. Has anyone stayed here recently and do you recommend it as a clean hotel?

3.What would be the best transport to the Port, remembering we have four large suitcases. Any company names of reliable transport would be greatly appreciated.

4. Any other tips for us Aussies would also be great.

1. We will have four large suitcases on arrival at FLL, would we be better organising a taxi or shuttle to our Hotel? The hotel has a shuttle from the airport to the hotel and the hotel to the port. They will have plenty of room for your bags. The number to call is 1-954-565-3800.

I have not stayed in this specific doubletree but generally in the area where it is located you will be satisfied. They have bag storeage in case you arrive before check in. There is an on site restaurant with room service. Quote from a review on line: "There are a decent amount of restaurants in the area and there is a CVS pharmacy right across the street in case you forget any toiletries."

Usually the hotel vans need to be scheduled at time of check in. Be sure to ask. It is only a short ride to the airport and port.

 

4. Any other tips for us Aussies would also be great.

Book your shows and dinning on line before you board (the sooner the better). As soon as possible after you board confirm your schedule on the TV in your stateroom.
