courtyard marriott airport west/doral transportation

Brother in law booked the hotel. This place would not have been my 1st choice, the Intercontinental in downtown Miami was where we stayed last cruise and I would have picked it again.

Anyway, the courtyard marriott has a complimentary shuttle from the airport. It does not look like there is a complimentary shuttle to POM. I have found a couple posts on here that say the hotel has a shuttle to POM for $11 per person. We have 7 people in our group.

My question is, is there a better option to get to POM? Would taxis be cheaper? Or is contracting with another transportation company an option?

We stayed at another hotel very close to this one and found it a lot cheaper to rent a car. Then we were able to go to dinner, to Wal-Mart to pick up last minute stuff, then we dropped the car at Hertz office in downtown Miami. They shuttled us to POM, just a few blocks away. It worked very well.
