Getting from Dublin to the Dock

We are cruising the Princess on the Transatlantic on May 8. We are to meet a friend in Dublin who will be flying in from Scotland (it's easier for him to meet us in Dublin for some reason). We have signed up for the 8:30 Dublin Highlight tour and plan to stay in Dublin when the bus goes back to the ship to spend some time with our friend. What is the normal method of returning to the ship on your own and how expensive is it?
