AZ Karaoke Girl Posted April 23, 2012 #2 Share Posted April 23, 2012 First let me say that Cabo dolphins is a quick 5 minute walk to dolphin facility. Don't understand the whole transport thing as there are no roads closer than where the facility is. Second, if you are coming in by ship, the cruiselines have a block on the times/dates that they are in port. You have to buy from them. You could lie and say you are staying at a hotel but chances are you will be bumped to accomodate cruiseline pax. Price isn't much different from my experience. I went directly to the Cabodolphins website before I did my swim to compare. Their prices listed on their swims were actually higher than Carnival was charging but they offered a 10% discount if you pre-paid which brought the cost down below Carnivals price. But the price wasn't worth the risk to me. Here is a picture of the dolphin facility in Cabo. The tender drops you off where the white tee pee like canopies are on the right side of the picture. Literally 5 minute walk.
AZ Karaoke Girl Posted April 23, 2012 #3 Share Posted April 23, 2012 ps I went their website. The dolphin swim isn't listed under the "cruises" tab for a reason. It has a warning listed: IF YOU ARE ARRIVING ON A CRUISE SHIP, PLEASE CALL TO CHECK AVAILABILITY BEFORE BOOKING 1 877 359 0443 If cruiseships have all the spots, they won't be able to sell it to you. Cabodolphins.com told me I could not book thru them if I was a cruise passenger. If this is something you really want to do, I suggest you book it thru the ship. downsized Posted April 24, 2012 #4 Share Posted April 24, 2012 Another thing that you may want to consider is that Cabo is a tendered port, and there can be 2400 passengers trying to get on the tenders as early as possible, and it may take several hours for everyone to get ashore. I can't comment on any other line than NCL, but when we did the Dolphin Swim, we were afforded VIP tendering, whch meant that we were escorted to the front of the tender line. There were nine of us, and even though only two of us did the swim, all nine were placed aboard one of the first tenders. BTW, the two that did the swim loved it! Those of us that did not swim were given wrist bands so that we could go up to a covered observation area and watch all of the swimmers. After the swim, all of the observers were given the opportunity to stand in ankle deep water and pet a dolphin. That alone, was a lot of fun. cabo helper Posted April 25, 2012 #5 Share Posted April 25, 2012 There are actually 2 different dolphin facilities in Cabo - one in San Lucas close to the pier and the other that the company you are asking about uses in San Jose. They are owned and run by different companies.
Daisysgrandma Posted September 4, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 4, 2013 I would love to swim with the dolphins but husband not up to it. Did your non-swimming companions have to pay full price? Pauline

Pauline Those of us that did not swim with the dolphins were not charged at all. We were allowed to the upper level and seated in a shaded area, and were offered beverages at a very reasonable cost. After the swim, any (and all) that were in the upper level were invited out into ankle deep water and allowed to pet the dolphins. It was a very enjoyable experience, from start to finish.
