Yes I paid with US currency and all the stores took credit cards...plastic bags....or leave it with someone you trust...

My boyfriend put his wallet under his towel about 4 inches down in the sand in a ziplock bag. no one went near our towel though. Just make sure you leave something heavy on your towel so it doesn't blow away! ;) :D

Do taxis, stores take US currency?

Everyone takes US currency. Since the Bermuda dollar is locked at BDA$1 = US$1 you don't have to worry about converting money and can even pay with a mixture of US and BDA money. From what I've heard converting BDA to US is a real pain once you leave the island so try to convert any BDA you get to US dollars while you're in Bermuda. Stores understand this so if you ask your cashier for US change most will try to give you your change in US.
