? about Dawn out of NY

Hi. We just booked a June trip on The Dawn out of NY. I have a few questions...

-How much will the taxi cost us from JFK to the port? How long of a trip? Any suggestions?

-What is the ealiest time we should plan our planetrip OUT of NY (JFK) after the cruise?

-Does the ship view Statue of Liberty on the way out? Is the Intrepid close by or how much will it cost if we take a tour?

-Is the "day at sea" between NY and warmer waters too rough to enjoy? (I hope to just sit by the pool and read/ unwind)

Thanks so much for any comments. We just booked last nigh and came up w/ all of these questions as we tried to sleep. : )

Hi Terri68: I can answer a few of these questions for you. We were on the Dawn last June and are sailing again this June 12th. You will love her, she's a beautiful ship. JFK is maybe an hour away. Not sure. The Dawn sails right past the Statue Of Liberty and it is indeed a grand site as you sail by. The Intrepid is docked at the next peir to the Dawn. You'll be able to look at it from the Dawn. Not sure how much it is to tour. We tend to arrive early at the peir when we cruise. We drive in from NJ and prefer to be in, parked and settled before the major rush of people. We don't mind sitting and waiting to board. A good book or magazine passes the time and we are always some of the first aboard. Last year we were at the peir, unloaded our luggage, parked and were seated in the waiting area by abut 11:00am. We were on board and in our suite by 12:30. Having lunch in the Venitian by 1ish. We love being on the ship early and walking around exploring. The first sea day last year was very warm, a little breezy on upper decks but fine around the pool.. The seas were calm. There are a couple of Roll Calls going for June Dawn sailings over on the Roll Call forum. Take a peak and see if your cruise is listed.
