Costa Europa cruise

Have just returned from a med cruise on Costa Europa .

I must say that it is well worth the money - the food very good, service exceptional, cleanliness unbelievable and organisation superb.

Costa certainly know how to run a ship.

The ship itself - although older than many, the interior design very classic and comfortable - entertainment first class from the evening shows to the duo's and bands situated in the various bars.

The food menu in the sirens restaurant was in a variety of languages - being english we had the english menu - the sweet menu was one menu with each item being described in about 6 languages.

This was our first cruise - not really fancying it before - if we go again we will certainly go with Costa

are considering the mediterranean cruise on Costa Europa or

Costa Romantica.

We see that they are very old ships, but you say they were very clean?

Was there entertainment?

Pools & hot tubs?

size of rooms?

varied menu and good food or mediocre?

service?

any clue on average age of fellow cruisers?

Many thanks to any further information you can supply.

Romantica was very clean, very classic. Beautiful marble everywhere.

> Was there entertainment?

Well some people really enjoyed the evening shows. We found them to be pretty uneven. There was an entertainment team that kept a pretty constant array of silly games, quizzes and crafts going. There were several informational lectures. There was a casino that was pretty empty whenever we were there, but we were usually in bed by 10-11. There were 2 disco/bars. We don't drink so we never went there in the evening. There was also a nice cognac/cigar bar. Again, don't know how popular it was. Frankly we were pretty active in the ports so we were really too tired to sample the evening entertainment.

> Pools & hot tubs?

2 pools. One quiet on one side of the ship, the other had foosball tables, ping-pong tables, and dance lessons, aforementioned silly games etc. There were two hot tubs - don't remember if they were theactive or quiet side.

> size of rooms?

The regular staterooms were a very nice size. I hear the mini-suites and suites are enormous.

> varied menu and good food or mediocre?

Plenty of choices. The food wasn't 5-star cuisine, but it was pretty good. Usually there was one outstanding dish per evening. There was always Gelato for dessert if you didn't like the other choices. We never went hungry.

> service?

Very good. Again, not what I would call 5 stars, but it's not that kind of ship.

> any clue on average age of fellow cruisers?

There was quite a range, from late 20's on up. A lot of honeymooners. There weren't many kids or teenagers, but our sailing was late May so it was a bit early. I'd say the average was probably mid forties. Most of the people we met had college-age children.

Hope this helps.

It's not 5-star, super luxury that some lines are known for. But it's not a 5-star luxury price either. I would definitely cruise Costa - and the Romantica - again.
