FLsunshinegal Posted August 15, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 15, 2012 We have one day in each - Monday and Tuesday. We've been before, but just walked around a little. What is there to see and do that would be an interesting way to spend the day? Thanks!
dln929 Posted August 16, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 16, 2012 We rented a car for the day in Tenerife in February. It was really inexpensive. We drove around the island stopping off wherever we pleased. What we thought was spectacular was Mt. Teide. We felt like we were walking on the moon! And the drive up through the clouds was pretty memorable too. We also went down to the seashore and liked that, so different from the mountains. That's the fun thing about Tenerife--it's just small enough that you can see a lot of different terrain in the space of a day. Here's a nice little write-up you might like reading. http://www.realtenerifeislanddrives.com/Mount%20Teide.html
FLsunshinegal Posted August 16, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted August 16, 2012 Did you rent the car before you left or were they available once you arrived? If you reserved ahead of time, where did you pick it up? Thanks!
dln929 Posted August 18, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 18, 2012 Did you rent the car before you left or were they available once you arrived? If you reserved ahead of time, where did you pick it up? Thanks! We rented it before we left. We got an Opel Corsa from Cicar for 38.52 euros for the day. The pick up is at Muelle Ribera. http://www.cicar.com/EN/action/officeView/muelle-ribera As you can see, it's really close to the ship so getting the car was an easy process. We loved driving around Tenerife. It's such a scenic island. It was one of the best ports! _________ Deirdre
LondonTowner Posted August 19, 2012 #5 Share Posted August 19, 2012 We also rented a car in Tenerife from Hertz last December. I think it was 32 Euros for the day and we had a new Toyota Urban Cruiser. Petrol is cheap in the Canaries as they are Duty Free ports. The Hertz office is also very close to the cruise terminal, we found it easily.
