EssexBarnes Posted September 12, 2012 #1 Share Posted September 12, 2012 We are experienced cruisers, but havent cruised with P&O for about six years and embarking as a first timer on the Azura mini cruise this weekend. So here`s an easy question for the regulars....re tipping. Do they automatically add a daily amount to your shipboard account or is it left to the individual based on their tipping guidelines. I ask because P&O`s website say its the former, whilst the c.c expert review says the latter. Personally, i think i will go with P&O`s website....what say you guys?? Thanks in advance
tom_uk Posted September 12, 2012 #2 Share Posted September 12, 2012 The website is correct. This is a change that has been introduced recently - earlier this summer, IIRC. The expert review presumably pre-dates this change. You can ask at Reception for automatic gratuities to be removed from your account, and then either tip in the traditional way or not tip at all. HomelessBear Posted September 15, 2012 #4 Share Posted September 15, 2012 We cruised in July on Azura and £3.10 was added daily onto the shipboard account to cover gratuities. This is so much better IMHO, rather than working out how much to give and put it into envelopes. You can of course remove some or all of the gratuities, by visiting the reception desk. We personally don't remove them but everyone has their own view. We also give extra at the end of the cruise if we have had exceptional service from the cabin steward and wait staff.
