ohiotek Posted October 18, 2012 #26 Share Posted October 18, 2012 I have to comment again about the tipping. As I said before the amount of the tip must be based on what you ar comfortable with. The person who posted that he pays the butler 20 -30 dollars per day must be comfortable with that amount. I myself am comfortable with about 1/2 that amount. And I believe that our butler was just as appreciative. One doesn't need to over extend themself to show appreciation to the butler and concierge. figgifumi Posted October 18, 2012 #27 Share Posted October 18, 2012 Once you cruise in a Norwegian Suite there is NO turning back! Believe me..I know! If you feel like going really crazy then book a Haven Suite! I am a big fan of NCL..they have the best suite service and amenities! I will be in a Haven Suite in a little over 2 weeks and I can hardly contain myself..woo hoo!! This is so true! We were upsold to a suite last time, and even though this time we tried to go with a normal balcony... we just couldn't do it and ended up changing the booking and paying full price to go to a suite... CRAZY as you said- but so EXCITED :) still not in the Haven yet- guess we will have to get addicted to that next time.
time2cruise1 Posted October 19, 2012 #28 Share Posted October 19, 2012 I am a working class person. Being 'pampered' is not only not my lifesyle, it would in fact actually make me feel uncomfortable. So sometimes I have to wonder what was I thnking when I upgraded, but I do want to experience some of what the 'suite life' offers.... Bob that is the beauty of the suite life on NCL. You don't have to be a blue blood to enjoy it. Nothing is formal but many working to make your cruise special. You work hard take time to enjoy the suite life.
PegasusGM Posted October 19, 2012 #29 Share Posted October 19, 2012 Alot depends on the suite catagory and the ship. In general the butler takes care of all the in suite issues and works with the room stewards to insure that you are spoiled rotten. The concierge handles all the outside suite items - your priority embarkation and debarkcation, tender tickets, any extra tour items you might need. On the Jewel class ships, his office is right next to Cagney's so expect him to drop by during breakfast or lunch to check in on you and take an interest in what you have planned for the day. When we were on the Pearl in June Anoop was our concierge and this is exactly what he did. We also ran into him on other parts of the ship and he always took the time to say hi and make sure that our cruise was fantastic. The butler staff reports to the concierge so he may ask you how your butler is treating you. Between the two of them, they can make magic happen - they also expect tips for their services as they are not part of the DSC pool. Other suite perks are based on suite catagory and ship. Anoop rocks! He was with us last December.

Warmer Climes Posted December 10, 2012 #32 Share Posted December 10, 2012 Hi,From all I hear you will love a suite on NCL. They do it best at least as far as I can tell from CC members. We are in the DOS on Gem in the spring, our first ever suite. First let me say thanks to everybody for all the information. Question though and this is a new thought I just had this AM. Does anybody know if we can add another person to our cabin. We are thinking of taking our 3 year old grandson. Just an idea we are toying with. Thanks, Laura Laura, call and ask whoever you booked the cruise through. Even if your suite is rated for more guests than you currently have booked, it depends on the occupancy rate of the sailing as to whether they can add more passengers. I was able to add a fifth person to our DOS because it is rated for six and the ship wasn't full when I did it. I would call as soon as you decided if you want to take your little grandson..
