Hotel and port info please

HI we are doing the repositioning cruise on the Carnival Conquest Nov. 16 2013 :) We will be flying into San Juan the day before so we are looking for a hotel that is near things to do as well as near the cruise port. I hear that we should look for some place in old San Juan.. is that near the cruise port? Hotel does not need to be a very fancy one just clean as we want to spend most of our time there exploring. Any info would be welcomed... thank you:D

I believe Carnival ports in OSJ, as opposed to the Pan Am pier. You might want to check a Hotel Milano, on Forteleza. We've stayed there. It was clean, reasonably priced, and convenient to the sites of Old San Juan, as well as restaurants and the OSJ piers.
