Purchasing the adult drinks package on-board

Just a quick question on this. We have $200 OBC, and we were thinking this:

 

If we ordered the soft drinks package now, I believe they would take it straight off my card, and we couldn't use the OBC to this.

 

So what we were thinking was order the excursions ahead of time (so there is no danger of getting fully booked), and picking up the drinks package on the first day, so we can use our OBC. That with a couple of cocktails should see off the $200.

 

1) Are my correctly informed about all the above assumptions?

2) How do we get the soft drinks package when we are on the ship? Can we do it on the first day?

Yes, you care correct that anything you purchase on board will consume your OBC, and everything you purchase ahead of time will be charged to your credit card immediately.

 

There will be people selling the beverage packages right as you board the ship.

Unless you drink a LOT of soda I strongly recommend against RCL's beverage package.

 

It does not include canned soda, water, or specialty coffees, and the base package doesn't even include mixed drinks.
